At Distinguished Kitchens & Baths, we love keeping up with trends in interior design and cabinetry. And in today’s post, we’re going to discuss one of our favorite trends this year: fluted glass cabinet doors.
Fluted glass is also sometimes called ribbed glass or English reeded glass. In other words, it’s a glass panel which has been moulded into narrow columns. Although it’s still transparent and lets light through, you can’t see exactly what’s in the cabinet behind it.
In the past, fluted glass was used in heavy, 20th century designs that looked dark and out of date. But today, in combination with natural materials and plenty of lighting, fluted glass is making a stylish comeback.
Kitchen design in 2019 is focused on openness. We’re seeing lots of stripped-back shelving, natural light, and minimal decoration.
Fluted glass fits in really well with this style. It’s the perfect compromise between transparency and privacy. Use fluted glass cabinet doors to make your kitchen feel light and open, without leaving the contents of every cabinet on full display.
Fluted glass is also a great choice for bathroom cabinets and windows. Bathroom design is all about finding a balance between privacy and lighting. Fluted glass allows you to fill the space with natural light – but you can feel completely comfortable and private.
