Ready, Set, Remodel!

Okay, now that we have your attention, let’s back up just a bit. Before you begin your Palm Beach kitchen remodel, there are a few questions that can help you to get the most out of the project, and maybe even decide that you really don’t need it. Yes, we actually said that. At Distinguished Kitchens and Baths, we value satisfied customers who will pass on the word about their great experience with us. If that means that we recommend that you do not proceed with a remodel at this time, it is worth it. But now back to what to consider before getting started.

Kitchen remodel

1) Are you loving your house or listing it? If you are getting ready to sell your house in under 2 years, then your money is probably best spent elsewhere. Potential buyers are more interested in how well your roof is holding up than what your counters are made of. Kitchens are also getting more personalized, so new buyers will often turn around and re-do your re-do. A coat of paint, clean counters, a vase of flowers and a new set of dish towels will do wonders for the “curb appeal” of your kitchen. Save your budget for a kitchen remodel of your own new home! If you are staying in your house for more than two years, then make it personal, and do what you really want, rather than what you think will sell.

2) Are you skimping on your cabinetry choices? Cabinetry is not a place to cut corners. Well made cabinets last for years and can have new countertops installed on top of them if you change your style down the road. Particleboard is a lose/lose situation. It won’t last, it won’t be attractive to other buyers down the road if you are considering selling, and it won’t hold up to refurbishing. Experts recommend that cabinetry be one of the biggest investments in your kitchen remodel.

3) Is the kitchen design too trendy? Open shelving is very hot right now. However, if you are realistic, do you want to spend time keeping your dishes perfectly organized, stacked and dusted to have and keep that magazine look? I would rather be golfing, or at the beach!

At Distinguished Kitchens and Baths, we can help you work through these questions and more to get the Palm Beach kitchen remodel of your dreams, not your nightmares. Call us today for a consultation.
